Robin Hood's Juniors in the News

Robin Hood Golf Club is delighted to be reaping the rewards of a number of years of hard work developing Junior and Academy golf at the club.

Ellie Leech, aged 18, has been chosen by the Warwickshire Ladies Association of Golf to be their Junior Captain for 2016.  Ellie who started golf as a member of Robin Hood’s Academy when she was 10 years of age was selected to be the first female Junior Captain of Robin Hood in 2015.  Ellie proved to be an indomitable captain earning the respect of the team and following this success she is now delighted to be Warwickshire Junior Girls’ Captain.

Ellie was selected as County Junior Captain because of her boundless enthusiasm for the game and her willingness to encourage those around her to perform to the best of their ability.  Ellie’s current handicap is 16 with her ambition to reach single figures as soon as possible.  A hard task when at the same time as playing golf Ellie is studying for ‘A’ levels, holding down a part time job at American Golf and playing in a band.

Not only is Robin Hood celebrating Ellie’s success but is also delighted that one of the younger members of the junior section has also been singled out for his attitude towards golf and for his competitive spirit and determination to improve.  Harrison Kentish who will be 14 this year has been selected as Warwickshire County Golf U14’s Boys’ Captain.  Harrison took up golf encouraged by his parents Steve and Jenny when he was 9.

Harrison’s handicap has come tumbling down from 54 just a few years ago to his current handicap of 11. He is also delighted to have been asked to be the U14 Boys’ Captain.

Luke Turbutt who now plays off a handicap of 1 has also brought success to Robin Hood.  Luke qualified to play in the Junior European Open 2015 in association with The Daily Express. This competition is widely believed to be the toughest test in junior golf in Europe.

The Champions Week Finals in Andalucia, Spain are staged over five rounds including Finca Cortesin, 3 times venue for the Volvo World Matchplay. The results can be found on the Golf Organiser.com website.

Luke was also selected to play for the county in the U18 team last season.
