Robin Hood Golf Club
RULES OF THE COMPETITION ARE SHOWN ON THE POSTER ON OUR WEBSITE www.robinhoodgolfclub.co.uk In addition to the Rules of Golf and Local Rules on reverse of scorecard, the following additional Local Rules apply: Flagsticks/Holes (Rule 13.2): Golfers are required to leave the flagstick in the hole at all times and not to touch it. As the depth of the hole has been modified to allow players to remove the ball without touching the flagstick, scores will be acceptable for either competition or supplementary score purposes. In such cases, the ball is considered holed if any part of the ball is below the surface of the putting green, even if not lodged against the flagstick. Bunkers (Local Rule E3 Adapted for bunkers): When a player's ball lies in a bunker, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area. The relief area is defined as 6 inches from the spot of the original ball, within the bunker and not nearer the hole. The area must not be smoothed before placing. Red Stakes & Course Furniture (Rule 16.1): All red stakes and course furniture such as distance markers, ropes and normally movable signs are classed as temporary immovable obstructions. Free relief is available for interference with stance, swing or line of sight when the ball lies outside a penalty area (Rule 16) but not if the ball lies in the penalty area. In that situation a player’s only relief option is under Rule 17 with a 1 stroke penalty. If a red stake is removed in that situation, the General Penalty (2 strokes) applies. Line of sight relief is not available if it is clearly unreasonable for the player to make a stroke because of something other than the temporary immovable obstruction. Scoring (Rule 3.3b): In stroke play, players should enter their own hole scores on the scorecard. The marker should view the card at the end of the round and agree the score. The marker’s name should be printed on the card, the card signed and then returned. Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16.1): Newly laid drains on 12th & 15th holes are Ground Under Repair. Interference exists and relief may be taken if ball is on or touching the area. Interference does not exist if the area only interferes with the player’s stance unless the area is still under construction. Exposed rubber crumb in the front greenside bunker on 1st hole is GUR. Interference exists and relief may be taken if the condition interferes with the player's stroke. Free relief may be taken in the bunker (or outside the bunker under penalty of one shot). Interference does not exist if the condition only interferes with the player's stance. Animal Dung (Local Rule F-12) At the player’s option, dung from a fox may be treated either as: • A loose impediment that may be removed under Rule 15.1, or • Ground under repair from which relief is allowed under Rule 16.1. PREFERRED LIES ARE IN OPERATION (Rule E3) When a player's ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area: •Reference Point: Spot of the original ball. •Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: 6 inches from the reference point, but with these limits: •Limits on Location of Relief Area: •Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and •Must be in the general area In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b(2) and 14.2e. When a player’s ball lies in the general area, the ball may be lifted, cleaned and replaced without penalty. The player must mark the spot before lifting the ball (see Rule 14.1) and the ball must be replaced on its original spot (see Rule 14.2).
