MEN'S Invitation Pairs Alliance Rules

ADDITIONAL LOCAL RULES TO THOSE ON CARD
Out of Bounds: When playing 5th, on or beyond the path between the 5th and the outdoor range bays.
Flagsticks/Holes (Rule 13.2): Golfers are required to leave the flagstick in the hole at all times and not to touch it. As the depth of the hole has been modified to allow players to remove the ball without touching the flagstick, scores will be acceptable for either competition or supplementary score purposes. In such cases, the ball is considered holed if any part of the ball is below the surface of the putting green, even if not lodged against the flagstick.
Bunkers (Local Rule E3 Adapted for bunkers): When a player's ball lies in a bunker, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area. The relief area is defined as 6 inches from the spot of the original ball, within the bunker and not nearer the hole. The area must not be smoothed before placing. If the ball remains in the bunker after a stroke, the same relief option applies.
Red Stakes & Course Furniture (Rule 16.1): All red stakes and course furniture such as distance markers, ropes and normally movable signs are classed as temporary immovable obstructions. Free relief is available for interference with stance, swing or line of sight when the ball lies outside a penalty area (Rule 16) but not if the ball lies in the penalty area. In that situation a player’s only relief option is under Rule 17 with a 1 stroke penalty. If a red stake is removed in that situation, the General Penalty (2 strokes) applies. Line of sight relief is not available if it is clearly unreasonable for the player to make a stroke because of something other than the temporary immovable obstruction.
Scoring (Rule 3.3b): In stroke play, players should enter their own hole scores on the scorecard. The marker should view the card at the end of the round and agree the score. The marker’s name should be printed on the card, the card signed and then returned.
Abnormal Course Conditions (Rule 16.1):
Damaged areas of fairway caused by course vehicles in the following locations are Ground Under Repair, and relief may be taken at player’s option:
• 3rd hole between 160 & 100 yards from centre of green.
• 7th hole between 130 and 70 yards from centre of green.
Interference exists and relief may be taken if ball is on or touching the area. But interference does not exist if the area only interferes with the player’s stance. Any re-drop required through remaining in any damaged area must be taken in the original relief area.
Newly laid drains (including stone filled slits) on holes 3, 4, 9, 12, 15 & 18 are Ground Under Repair. Interference exists and relief may be taken if ball is on or touching the area. But, with the exception of 12th, interference does not exist if the area only interferes with the player’s stance.
Bare area to the right of the 5th green is Ground Under Repair and relief may be taken at the player’s option.
Roped area on the 4th beyond the ditch is Ground Under Repair and relief may be taken at player’s option. If ball cannot be found, another ball may be put in play (Rule 16.1e).
All areas marked with a white line are Ground Under Repair, play prohibited.

When taking relief in the above situations the player should drop the original ball or another ball in and play it from the following relief area:
• Reference Point: Nearest point of relief (if ball not found, estimated point where the ball last crossed the Abnormal Ground Condition).
• Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: one club-length from the reference point, but with these limits:
• Limits on Location of Relief Area:
o Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
o Must be in the general area
As an alternative when playing 5th, relief may be taken in the drop zone at the back left of the green.

Animal Dung (Local Rule F-12)
At the player’s option, dung from a fox may be treated either as:
• A loose impediment that may be removed under Rule 15.1, or
• Ground under repair from which relief is allowed under Rule 16.1.

Immovable Obstruction (Rule 16)
Item 2d on reverse of card is extended to include the Gazebo at rear of 8th green.
Item 2e on reverse of card is extended to include the net protecting the
red tee on 6th.
Item 2f on the reverse of the card has been extended to include the roped off area to the right of 6th fairway at the end of the main practice ground. This area includes the ditch and the path running to 3rd hole. The ditch is not a penalty area. If ball cannot be found, another ball may be put in play (Rule 16.1e).
