Captain's Report

Fellow Members,

This is my first attempt at a report so if I miss anything please accept my apologies.

The Captaincy got off to a good start after being escorted to the tee by the Lady Captain, Sue Butler with my drive going down the left middle of the fairway (nowhere near where it usually goes).  Congratulations go to John Grant whose shrewd placing of pegs won him the Sovereign.

My thanks go to all who turned out to play in the Drive in Texas Scramble which was won by the team of Nick Barnard, Kevin Cottrell, David Fox and Robert Smith with a score of 60.9.

The recent snow has stopped any golfing activity and a victim of this was the December Stableford which had to be cancelled. When the course is open again and trolleys are permitted please remember to use winter wheels to help protect the course.  If you don’t have any put them on your list for Santa Claus; you never know what might be in your stocking on Christmas Day!

I would like to congratulate Alex Ford who played in the European Junior Open at the Alcaidesa Links Golf Club, Spain where he carded two great scores of 72 and 75. Well done Alex, hope to see your handicap come tumbling down in 2018.

Please note the 125th Anniversary Year Prize Draw tickets will be going on sale soon so please have a go to win £1250 towards your 2018/19 subs. Tickets cost £5.00 and the draw will take place on 15 September 2018.

I hope to see and hear as many of you as possible at the Carol Service on Christmas Eve.  Also, why not celebrate 2018 and come along to the New Year’s Eve Party. Please sign up as usual using the booking sheet located behind the bar.

Finally, to all the members and staff at Robin Hood please have a very merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Steve Franklin.
