Dave's History:
We have been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years.
Dave has been a chef since leaving school at the age of 16, where he trained with the Telford and Wrekin Council, Passing all NVQ's levels 1/2/3. During his time with the council, he won "˜Student Chef of the Year' which is a prestigious culinary title. He went on to work his way up to Head Chef, successfully providing food and drink at their 5 establishments, including: Horsehay Golf Club and Oakengates Theatre. During his time there, he also organised outside banqueting functions, catering for up to 150 people, with a team of 4 chef's, 30 waitresses and 8 bar staff at various venues, notably, the Costford RAF Museum.
He then furthered his culinary experience by working at 2 top 2AA rosette restaurants: Drapers Hall, Shrewsberry and Hundred House, Norton. Following this, he chose to branch out his knowledge of bar and cellar management by working at The Royal British Legion, Ludlow and, during this time, gained his personal alcohol license. This then led him on to owning his own pub/restaurant in Wales.
Fixed Bar and Catering:
We started working within Golf Clubs in 2000.
Starting at Aberdovey Golf Club, we turned it into a very successful franchise catering venue with an excellent restaurant reputation and an up sale on wines.
Moving on from Aberdovey, we became live-in bar and catering stewards at The Wrekin Golf Club, Telford, prosperously increasing their bar revenue through busy self-organised themed nights and special functions.
Between 2008-2017 we had been live in bar steward and franchise caterers at Halesowen Golf Club, Birmingham. Successfully running a busy and vibrant clubhouse, not only for members and visiting societies but also for outside functions, such as weddings and parties.
From 2017-2018 we undertook the bar steward and caterer positions at Halesowen Cricket Club, Birmingham. Whilst there, we ran a busy bar and served food and beverages for: 4 home teams, away players, and county events. Alongside this, weekends brought many external functions that we grew a reputation for.
From 2018-2021 we were franchise caterers at Kings Norton Golf Club, Birmingham. Daily, we served the club's members a wide array of food, ranging from bar snacks to a la carte Gourmet Nights. The club had a very busy social calendar with its 700+ members and we also acquired a popular reputation as wedding caterers at this venue.
In 2020 Guest Catering took on the bar and catering franchise at Evesham Golf Club, which was a huge achievement for the business during such a challenging year with COVID-19. We received excellent feedback from our services there during the tough time and are glad we launched such an exciting venue there in that year.
In April 2021 we branched out to our current venue, here at Robin Hood Golf Club. Daily we serve club members a wide range of food. We have a very busy and vibrant social calendar and we provide a outstanding service for a variety of different events, including but not limited to, tribute nights, award ceremonies, conferences and parties.
Achievements:
Not only are we proud of the day to day service we provide at Robin Hood, we also aim to excel our name and reputation within the area. This was recognised in 2014 and 2015 when Dave won back to back The London Pride and England Golf Midlands Steward of the Year Award. This was made more pleasing as entries were nominated by members.
Dave is a very active member of the Golf Club Stewards Association as the Midlands Secretary and Treasurer and a nominee on the National Exec committee, where he gets to network with other Stewards up and down the country.
Furthermore, D&T Guest Catering went on to achieve a 5 star hygiene rating.
