Robin Hood Golf Club
I feel I must start with congratulating our Juniors who are bringing Robin Hood to the forefront of Junior Golf. Our team of Harrison Kentish, Lucas Laurie and Alex Ford represented Warwickshire and Robin Hood at Woodhall Spa in the Junior National Club Final finishing a creditable 21st.The final will be held next year at Robin Hood in September.
Alex Ford has qualified for the Junior European Open winning a trip to Spain in September. Please look out for Alex on Sky Sports.
I did say in my last report I would give details of my Captain’s Away Day at Wollaton Park. A great day was had by all. The main competition was won by the team of Jon Northover, Alan Mann, Dominic Graham and Dick Willans and the Yellow Ball competition was won by the team of Richard Brown, Glen Privett, Peter Walker and Jim Bentley.
We had two Nearest the Pin competitions and the closest on both was Dave Raffety. However, in order to share the prizes the next closest on the two cards were Dominic Graham and Dave Brain although someone may have been closer it seemed the fairest way to share the prize. Dave and Dominic tossed a coin with Dave winning the prize. I thank everyone for supporting me on my Away Day.
Congratulations go to the winners of the following competitions:
Wednesday Stableford - Alfie Broadhurst
August Stableford - Jack Billington
Margo Foulds - Lorraine Baldwin & John Henson
Captains Day Texas Scramble - Tom Knight , Wendy Clark, Bill Brennan and David Fox
Golfer – Non-Golfer - Sally Fox & Ian Rought
Nearest the Pin - Peter Jinks and apparently Peter’s ball never got more than a foot of the ground but he has denied this emphatically.
The Disco on the evening – thank you to all who did attend. Not many but I did appreciate those who made the effort and thank you to everyone who played and made it a great day.
Please be aware you need to have submitted three cards during the golf season to retain your competition status.
The Scratch Team finished their season with a 4 4 draw at home to Penn, vastly improving on the 6 0 defeat away at Penn.
West Midlands League – Davenport Salver
Our Team of Jamie Westwood, Tom Knight, Steve Thorpe and Adam Finch finished 2nd in the Davenport Salver. Well played lads.
B Team & Seniors Results
Both teams continue their winning ways as the season draws to a close and continue to be well supported by the members.
Staff v Committee
The Committee trounced the Staff 4 1. It would have been a whitewash but the Staff poisoned the President who had to retire early.
The 3 Ball Alliance Open took place on Thursday, 24th August with a very full field. Many comments were passed on the excellent state of the course. The winning team came from Tewkesbury Golf Club with Sally Bevins, Peta Poynton and Glenda Loram from Maxstoke Park in 5th place and Lorraine Baldwin, Sandra Kerby and Tina West finishing in 6th place. In a field of 35 teams a creditable performance by our ladies. Well done.
The Super AmAm is this coming Saturday, 9th September, 2017, with the presentation around 7pm, and a disco to follow to which all members and guests are cordially invited.
The AGM in November is not that far away now and we will need applications from members who wish to stand for Director’s roles. Please give this some thought and if you require any guidance or assistance please speak to the Director in situ.
